Demaria victim of ill fortune in MX3 opener
Today in Castelnau de Levis, France, defending MX3 World Champion Yves Demaria finished runner-up in the first moto and was leading the second race until a rear wheel problem forced his retirement, giving an eighth place finish overall.
It was an eventful day for the Jacky Martens-led team. Demaria made several mistakes and had to rise from twentieth position to earn second in the first MX3 outing of the season. He was then foiled by bad luck later in the afternoon as countryman Julien Vanni claimed the overall victory.
Sven Breugelmans was leading Moto1 from Marco Dorsch until his chain broke. The Belgian then took fourth in the later sprint. Julien Bill had been
fighting against illness all weekend. Registering a temperature of almost 40 degrees the youngster collided with Andrea Bartolini and DNF-ed. He then finished fifth behind his team-mate in Moto2.
